Name:  Stephen H. Vold

Occupation:  Astumbo Middle School Teacher

                      UOG Fast Track Teaching Student

Been as Busy as a Bee as a Student at UOG

Midlife Crisis or an opportunity for change, growth and development.  A chance to give back to the community and impart some of my experiences to the next generation.  It is through our children and what we give others that gives us a little sense of immortality.  At this stage in my life I have for the above reasons decided to switch careers and become a professional educator.  I have recently had an opportunity to teach 7th grade geography but will be switching to teach in my content area for the 2009 to 2010 school year - location unknown.

On this site you will find my philosophy of teaching and NET*S standards with links to associated artifacts.  I have also included links to other UOG School of Education Course Work and this site will be updated as my wealth of material for my portfolio expands.

Experience as a Learner and my Teaching Philosophy

Conclusion

I am thankful for the Fast Track Teacher's Education Program.  Without this program I would not have been able to make the leap from government / private work to becoming a professional educator.  As in most lines of work, the more you learn the more you realize how much more there is to learn.  I have experienced much frustration with applying and being awarded the YEC scholarship only to find that I can not be part of that program for lack of co-signers.  The Guam Public School System has also been a challenge on many levels.  I want to especially thank all of my instructors and fellow fast track students that have provided technical and at times moral boosting support.  I plan to keep my newly created Eportfolio as a living web page and not just as a once and done assignment.
